At the age of 5, DJ was given a cell phone. A simple phone that would allow him to text and call family. One day while looking at his phone, his dad came across a number of voice recordings that DJ had made. They were snippets of adventures that he created. One of them told a tale of a puppy in a western saloon that viciously bit a man's hand. The few minute recording became his dad and mom's favorite and over the years, the story became more elaborate and vivid.
It took another 5 years before DJ took the story to paper and The Wanted Puppy came into fruition.
His parents surprised him with printed copies of the book on his birthday.
In 2015, he decided to continue the story and created The Wanted Puppy: The End. As a 2016 birthday surprise, the book was released.
